Prior Approval - Withdrawal Request

NOTE: Both PIs and SOs may initiate Withdrawal Requests but only an SO can submit them.

This type of request lets you withdraw a grant from NIH.

For various reasons, a signing official (SO) or principal investigator (PI) may decide to withdraw an error free application before it proceeds to council. To do this, use the Withdrawal Request option in the Prior Approval module of eRA Commons.

Either the SO or the PI can initiate a Withdrawal Request. The process requires a justification statement; as many as 10 supporting documents can be uploaded with the request. Only the SO can submit the request to NIH. Automatic notifications are sent to both the SO and PI upon approval of the request.

See Viewing and Initiating Requests for details on initiating a request. After initiating a Withdrawal request, you see the following details screen.
