Overview of PMM

  • The Program Management Module (PMM) is a state-of-the-art replacement for the eRA Program module (PGM).
  • It helps program officers (POs) and program analysts manage their portfolios more efficiently by reducing the time needed to accomplish tasks in the system.
  • PMM loads all of a PO's portfolio into memory and links up with other eRA modules for nearly instantaneous retrieval of information.
  • PMM gives POs full grant administration capabilities within their program areas: Administering the science of their grant applications and corresponding with Principal Investigators (PIs) before, during, and after the grant award.
  • PMM allows POs to monitor and track the status of each application as it moves through the following phases:
    • Pending Review
    • Pre-Council
    • Post-Council
    • Pending Non-Competing
    • Awards/Active
    • Closeout
    • Withdrawn/Other

Key Advantages

  • Faster response times and quicker access to program portfolios
  • Enhanced, comprehensive search capabilities
  • Ability to access the new checklist system, sign-off on awards and approve closeout grants
  • The Program Notebook captures grant-related personal notes, hyperlinks and documents
  • Integrated access to other frequently used modules
  • Track grants that are not assigned to you: See tracked grants in your portfolio and also track their Study Section Review meetings in RTMS. See Other Portfolios or Grant Search Results.
  • Ability to follow review meetings in real time, for either assigned grant applications or tracked grants, using PMM's access to the Real Time Meeting Status module (RTMS).
  • View your assigned grant applications as well as unassigned grants in any other PO's portfolio, either in a single view or presorted according to their phase in the grant lifecycle

PMM User Roles

The following user roles are available for PMM:

  • PROGRAM_OFFICIAL_ROLE — Access and view all components of the PMM system, add PO notes, start, fill out, and save checklists, track grants, see assigned applications and related tasks of other POs, sign off on awards for their admin IC, accept final progress reports for their admin IC, and complete PO checklists for their admin IC.
  • PROGRAM_ANALYST_ROLE — Access and view all components of the PMM system, add PO notes, start, fill out, and save checklists, track grants, see assigned applications and related tasks of other POs. This role prevents users from being able to sign off on awards, accept final progress reports, or complete PO checklists.
  • DPO (Delegated Program Official) — Allows a PO to delegate OTA awards to POs in other ICs. The selected POs can perform all PO functions on the delegated award.
