Submit Critiques & Scores (Word Critiques)
Two methods exist in IAR for reviewers to enter preliminary scores and submitting critiques:
-
Word critique template submission, or
-
Online critique submission
A meeting may use online critiques, where all critique feedback and preliminary scores are entered into IAR via the Online Critique screen, or it may use traditional Word-based critique templates. See Submit Critiques & Scores (Online Critiques) for information about online critiques.
Key Points:
-
Reviewers can submit or re-submit critiques and scores for assigned applications during the Submit and Edit Phases.
-
During the Read Phase, reviewers who have missed the due date and have not submitted a critique or criterion scores for an assigned application are still able to submit critiques and criterion scores; however, they will not be able to view the other critiques for this application until they have submitted their own. See Submit and Update Critiques and Scores After Submit Phase Deadline for more information about submitting after the submit phase.
-
Before submitting critiques and scores for an application, the reviewer can view additional information about the application by accessing the application’s Grant Folder. Reviewers can view key documents, including the e-application, prior summary statements (if they exist), and any e-additions materials related to the application. To view the Grant Folder, click the application number displayed as a hyperlink.
NOTE: Review processes differ among agencies and may be distinct from that of NIH For those agencies that follow the NIH review process, the basic steps will be the same and any differences will be called out.
The sections below outline steps for each agency.
