Intent to Pay (ITP) - Overview

What is the purpose?

The Intent to Pay (ITP) module allows users to set the Intent to Pay code, council recommendation, council priority, and fiscal year for multiple grant applications at the same time. It also allows the administrative Institute/Center (IC) to update these fields for individual grant applications. In addition, dual ICs can set the council recommendation and council priority for applications they are co-funding. The ITP module also sends Intent to Award email notifications for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

What are the features?

  • Allows four different ITP codes to be identified throughout the lifecycle of a grant application (Null, Deferred, No, Yes).
  • Allows editing of the ITP code after the application has gone through the Initial Review Group and after a review recommendation has been given.
  • Provides the ability to save a search with a specific name. Saved searches are available by selecting them from the My Saved Queries drop down menu.
  • Provides external Intent to Award notifications and internal ITP reminders for SBIR/STTR programs.
  • Supports only competing applications, which include: New applications (Type 1), Competing Continuation (Type 2), Competing Extension (Type 4), and Change of Awarding IC (Type 9).

What are the Benefits?

  • Provides a way to search for applications and assign the ITP code or council recommendation to a single application or multiple applications.
  • Provides the ability for ICs to quickly find the relevant grant application using specific search criteria.
  • Provides easy access to saved searches for future use.
  • Allows as many as 500 records to be updated at one time.

Who can use the ITP module?

Users with the ICO_GRANT_UPDATE_ROLE and ICO_GPM_ROLE have access to the ITP module. Different ICs may assign users from different business areas to manage the ITP code for their competing applications. Typically Grants Management or Budget staff are assigned with the roles needed to access this module. The system limits the ability to update certain fields depending upon the role of the user accessing the module.
