NIH Chief Information Officer (CIO) The chief information officer (CIO) of NIH heads the Center for Information Technology (CIT). The vision of the CIT is to develop long-term strategies for the best use of IT resources and to continue the improvement of CIT's services to NIH and to other agencies. CIT's mission is to address all existing NIH information technology and related functions and clearly define responsibilities for central leadership and service across all NIH. This will facilitate the development of effective strategies, policies and standards for information technology (IT), a resource that is critical to the efficient conduct of NIH research and administration.
